Kristin Davis tired of family films
Following the end of the HBO show in 2004, Davis took roles in films such as Deck The Halls, Shaggy Dog and The Adventures Of Sharkboy And Lavagirl 3-D but found the experience frustrating.
Speaking to Now, Davis said: "They [were] mom roles. There's not a huge amount of choice for women my age, so it's not that easy. I had whole scenes in Deck The Halls where I had no lines. I had whole days on Shaggy Dog where my only line was: 'Shaggy?'
"I'd email my manager saying: 'You have to come over here. I'm losing my mind.'
"So when we came back to do this movie, I was like: 'Thank God, something to do!'"
Terminator 4: New Casting and Story Details Revealed

Warner Bros sent out a press release announcing the start of production on Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins . And yes, this press release is a tad bit late, considering the film began lensing in Albuquerque, New Mexico almost two and a half weeks ago (May 5th). If it’s old news, then why report it at all? Well because the press release features a brand now plot synopsis:
In the highly anticipated new installment of The Terminator film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind. The film also stars Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star.
Charlotte Gainsbourg (The Science of Sleep, 21 Grams), pictured right, as Kate Connor, a character introduced in Terminator 3 as Kate Brewster, played by Claire Danes. If you remember correctly Brewster was actually the one who sent the last terminator back in time to protect John, as Connor was said to have been assassinated on July 4th 2032 by a T-850. Judging by the character’s name, it appears that Kate and John have since gotten married. The film begins 14 years before his assassination. However, one must wonder if that plot point may change now that John knows it is coming.Principal photography is taking place at the Albuquerque Studios and on location throughout New Mexico. Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins hits theaters on May 22nd 2009.

'Alchemist' heading to big screen
Harvey Weinstein confirmed at Cannes that he will co-produce the adaptation, which tells the story of a young Spanish shepherd who meets an alchemist during a quest to find hidden treasure in the Egyptian pyramids.
Fishburne, who has been struggling to get the film off the ground since 2003, said: "This is a special project that now has a special team behind it to ensure that its path to the big screen is handled with the proper care it deserves."
An "Academy Award-winning screenwriter" is in negotiations to write the screenplay for the £30 million movie, Weinstein revealed.
Coelho said: "I am very happy that my book will be filmed in the way I intended it to be, and I hope the spirit and simplicity of my work will be preserved."
Filming will start next year in various locations in Europe and the Middle East.
DreamWorks making 'Blackbeard'
Variety reports that David Franzoni (Gladiator) and Pat Croce will collaborate on a script for producer Barry Josephson (Enchanted).
Croce, who owns a pirate museum in Florida and has written the upcoming book My Pop-Pop Is a Pirate, originally pitched the idea for Blackbeard in December 2006. It took until the end of the WGA strike for the pair to get the project moving by hiring Franzoni.
Croce is also a motivational speaker and judge on reality show American Inventor.
Franzoni was nominated for a best screenplay Oscar in 2001 for his work on Gladiator. His other scripts include Amistad and King Arthur.
Romero's 'Dawn of the Dead' goes 3-D
3-D company In-Three will use its patented "dimensionalisation" techniques to turn the 1978 horror classic into a 3-D film. The project will reportedly be completed within a year.
The only other 2-D film that has been through this process is The Nightmare Before Christmas. Disney's 2006 re-release of the stop-motion animation film pulled in $8.7 million from 168 US theatres. The company plans to reissue Nightmare again this year and in 2009.
In the "dimensionalisation" process, a second camera image is created from each frame of the 2-D print. Objects are then moved forwards or backwards in relation to each other so as to create the 3-D effect.
The conversion process can cost between $50,000 and $100,000 per minute.
Dawn of the Dead follows a group of survivors who take shelter from zombies in a shopping mall. The film was remade by Zack Snyder in 2004.

Hackman quits movies for writing career

The two-time Oscar winner said he has no plans to make another movie following the publication of his third historical novel Escape From Andersonville.
He is quoted as saying: "I haven't worked in acting for four years now, so I guess you'd call it retirement... and I don't miss the business."
He added that he has changed his policy of not reading reviews since embarking on his new career, saying: "I never read reviews of the films I've done but I read reviews of the books. I'm a neophyte at this and I want some kind of reinforcement that I should continue."
The 78-year-old previously said he has no desire to play "grandfathers or doddering old men".
Director confirms 'Anchorman' sequel
Writer/director Adam McKay said he and star Will Ferrell plan to make a follow-up in the next few years.
He told Collider.com: "I'm looking to do another movie, I might do this other movie called Channel 3 Billion, which is kind of this science fiction/Brazil type comedy.
"Then after that, Will and I are like 'let's do Anchorman 2'... so you're talking like two years, maybe we'll do it. But we're going to do it for sure."
The pair also worked together on 2006 comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

'Lost' star sad over shock death

Speaking to Ain't It Cool, Emerson said: "It was sweetly played by Tania Raymonde and I will miss her so much. Quite afar from us having a fictional relationship, I also just like her very much as a person and have loved working with her... I do feel a fatherly sadness at her going away and not continuing to be on the show."
Alex was shot in the head at point blank range by a mercenary in recent episode 'The Shape Of Things To Come', following her father Ben's refusal to surrender.
Emerson added: "It was shocking and for Ben... clearly something went very wrong and against every expectation in that moment and now he has sort of been shattered in a way."
Ten Things You Never Knew About Cameron Diaz

At the age of 21, little-known model Cameron Diaz was cast opposite Jim Carrey in The Mask, despite having no previous acting experience. She had to read for the part 12 times and developed a stomach ulcer for her trouble, but her show-stopping entrance made her an instant star. Scoot forward a few years and the all-American star with Cuban-German-English-Cherokee ancestry is still at the top of the A-list and has romanced a conveyor belt of dishy men to boot. As new flick What Happens In Vegas opens in cinemas across the UK this week, it's high time we found out more about Hollywood's golden girl.
1. Cameron attended California's Long Beach Polytechnic High School at the same time as rapper Snoop Dogg.
2. Cameron would love to switch lives with comedian Jack Black - at least for a while. She says: "I think of who I would want to be, and then Jack's there in a blue leotard and a moustache, and I'm like, 'What would it be like to be that guy?' I don't know... I'd like to know." Hmm, maybe it would be best not to delve too deeply in this case!
3. Cameron admits that her male co-stars have a tendancy to get all hot under the collar when she's around. She reveals: "A lot of the actors I've worked with get... like a crush on me. They want to get romantic." She includes Mask co-star Jim Carrey, whose invitation for a date she politely declined, in that number. Although he remained civil, the warmth was gone from their relationship and she hasn't heard a word from him since. Ouch!
4. Cameron really - really - hates the musical stylings of Mariah Carey. She says: "If you really want to torture me, sit me in a room strapped to a chair and put [her records] on."
5. On the other hand, she has a bit of a soft spot for Harrison Ford, whom she describes as her "ideal man for masculinity".
6. Cameron stopped eating pork after learning that pigs have the "same intellectual capacity as a human three-year-old". However, it didn't last - she later said: “I started eating pork again, because it’s so goddamn good!”
7. Cameron refuses to consider plastic surgery. In fact, she says: “If anyone invents a ray gun which, when used, undoes every face job in Beverly Hills, I want to be around when whoever it is pulls the trigger.” So do we, Cameron, so do we.
8. Cameron says she never exercised at all - not even for a day - before embarking on her gruelling fitness regime for Charlie’s Angels.
9. While Cameron has no qualms about adding a bit of muscle, it's not something she would do for a part. Talking about 2005 drama In Her Shoes, she explains: "Toni [Collette] was fantastic, and so dedicated. She agreed to gain weight for the role. Which, well... I wouldn't gain weight for a role - that's not part of my job requirement!"
10. Cameron is a big fan of the horizontal mamba. She says: “Sex is best for everything. It’s the best exercise. It’s the best way to pass the time. It’s the best way to spend an afternoon. It’s the best way to do anything. It should absolutely be 100% of everyone’s life on a day-to-day basis.”
