Howard in talks for 'Terminator'

Bryce Dallas Howard is in discussions to replace Charlotte Gainsbourg in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.Gainsbourg joined the cast last month as Kate Connor, the wife of Christian Bale's freedom fighter John Connor. She was forced to drop out of the sci-fi action film due to a scheduling conflict with an upcoming French comedy.Should the actors strike go ahead, Terminator would shut down and resume at a later date, meaning a potential clash with Gainsbourg's French film.Howard has previously appeared in Spider-Man 3, The Village and Lady In The Water.Terminator is currently shooting in New Mexico under the direction of Charlie’s Angels helmer McG.

McPhee, Bentley join 'Storyteller'

Katharine McPhee and Wes Bentley have been cast in psychological drama The Storyteller, The Hollywood Reporter says.McPhee, a former American Idol contestant, will play an assistant to Bentley's writer who begins to investigate whether her boss's muse and narrator for his stories is just a figment of his imagination. Anita Briem will star as the muse.Robert Angelo Masciantonio will direct the film.McPhee recently completed work on Anna Faris comedy The House Bunny. Bentley's credits include American Beauty, The Four Feathers and Ghost Rider.

'Transformers' wins at MTV Movie Awards

Transformers has won the top prize at this year's MTV Movie Awards.Michael Bay's robot action film scooped the best movie award at the event held at Universal Studios last night. Despite a nearby fire that damaged several soundstages and buildings, the ceremony, which hands out awards based on fans' votes, continued as planned.Johnny Depp took home two prizes: the best comedic performance for Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End and best villain gong for Sweeney Todd.Will Smith won the male performance award for his role in I Am Legend."I haven't always made great movies but I've been trying real hard," Smith said. "I've dedicated my life to creating and trying to do things that are different."Ellen Page grabbed the female trophy for playing the lead in Jason Reitman's comedy Juno .Iron Man picked up a new award for the best summer movie so far. Accepting the prize, director Jon Favreau said: "If you think this award is ridiculous, when Swingers won, we were followed by Chewbacca winning the lifetime achievement award."This year's recipient of the lifetime achievement prize was comic Adam Sandler.Superbad led the nominations, appearing in five categories, but went home empty handed, as did Enchanted and Knocked Up.
