Tupac biopic hires director John Singleton

John Singleton has signed up to make the long in-development Tupac Shakur biopic.The Oscar-nominated Boyz n the Hood filmmaker will direct, produce and re-write the script for the project, which chronicles the rapper's rise to fame and his murder in Las Vegas in 1996. Singleton worked with Tupac on the 1993 romantic drama Poetic Justice, which starred Janet Jackson as a hairdresser who composes poetry to help her deal with the death of her first boyfriend."Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with," Variety quotes Singleton as saying."His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world.
