The Office actor joins Cate Blanchett film Carol

Jake Lacy has joined the cast of Todd Haynes's Carol. The Office actor will star opposite Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in the upcoming adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel The Price of Salt. 'm Not There filmmaker Haynes will direct the 1950s-set project, which focuses on a young woman (Mara) in New York who finds herself obsessed with another woman (Blanchett) after meeting in a store. Lacy will play Mara's character's boyfriend Richard in the film. The Price of Salt was originally published back in 1952 under Highsmith's pseudonym. It was notorious at the time due to its lesbian storyline that moved away from stereotypical homosexual characters. Jake Lacy recently starred in the comedy film Obvious Child, while he also featured in the pilot of Fox sitcom The Goodwin Games, before being replaced by TJ Miller.
