'Fast & Furious 6' director Justin Lin 'won't return for seventh film'.

Longstanding Fast & Furious director Justin Lin will not be directing the seventh film in the series, it has been claimed. Lin informed movie executives on Wednesday (April 3) that he would not direct the next film in the franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lin has apparently cited "timing" for his decision not to return for Fast & Furious 7, which is reportedly being lined up for a summer 2014 release. An insider stated that the director felt starting work on this film while Fast & Furious 6 was in post-production "would not result in his best work". An announcement of a new director is expected by Universal as early as next week. Lin has directed a total of four films in the franchise - The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, 2009's Fast & Furious, Fast & Furious 5 and Fast & Furious 6, which is due to be released on May 24. The movie's stars include Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Vin Diesel.
