Emma Watson: 'I almost quit Harry Potter'
Emma Watson has revealed that she considered quitting the Harry Potter franchise to focus on her studies.
The 20-year-old actress, who has been studying at Brown University since last year, told MTV News that the issue of whether she could juggle her career and her education almost forced her to leave her role as Hermione Granger in the wizard series.
Watson explained that her contract renewal was discussed in 2006 while filming The Order Of The Phoenix, and it became apparent that filming The Half-Blood Prince could present difficulties.
She said: "I always try and make decisions in my life based on what's right for me and I just try and be true to myself.
"It was mainly to do with scheduling and I had a real fight on my hands to ensure that I was able to go to university and I was able to sit my A-levels, because the schedule they handed to me didn't really allow for any of that and I just wasn't prepared to let it go."
Watson continued: "They essentially moved the Harry Potter film schedule around my exam dates, which was amazing. It all worked out."
Joking about the prospect of an unknown actress taking on the role of Hermione, Watson said: "I would have been public enemy number one, I think, if I hadn't continued."
