Friday The 13th has topped the US box office on its first weekend on release.
The horror remake's $42 million haul is enough to knock last week's number one He's Just Not That Into You into second place.
New releases Confessions Of A Shopaholic and The International fail to make much of a dent in the chart. The Isla Fisher-led comedy debuts at number four with $15 million, while Clive Owen's thriller's lands at number seven with $10 million.
Elsewhere, Liam Neeson action movie Taken continues to perform strongly, having pulled in nearly $80 million during its three weeks in theatres.
